Summary/Objective: The Design Engineer position is responsible for the engineering of products or systems, in accordance with time schedules, quality parameters, customer needs, and manufacturing capabilities.
Design Engineer will support projects from a CAD or project coordination perspective by developing and interpreting technical documentation.
Top priorities include site audits, creation of conceptual and detailed drawings, coordination with plant and project stakeholders, and assisting with project implementation.

Designs catwalks, platforms and crossovers for the food and beverage industry to be installed around conveyor systems in AutoCAD.
Designs stainless steel safety enclosures for the food and beverage industry in AutoCAD.
Handles all aspects of design engineering work for the company’s projects.
Interpret and mark up manufacturing line drawings.
Review customer RFS/RFP packages, and communicate with them to understand and define their needs.
Understands and responds to customer, vendor and contractor requests, both verbal and written.
Designs product to meet all customer and safety requirements.
Handles all changes and problems related to product assigned.
Conduct site audits and complete facility surveys.
Participate in on-site bid meetings with customers.
Requisition and compare materials, supplies, and rental equipment costs for jobs, and present them to the General Manager or Engineering Director.
Develop permit drawings for submittal to project site city and county for review.
Create and update Gantt chart-style project schedules.
Research industry standard machinery and companies to become familiar with new processes and technologies.
Assist in maintaining and improving company standards, including drawings, information databases for machinery and raw material, vendor information, engineering procedures, and digital storage procedures.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and days of work are generally Monday through Friday.
Occasional work on weekends may be necessary.
Travel: Frequent travel is required for this job, accounting for about 20% of the position.
This position travels to the client’s job sites to take measurements, identify potential installation issues and to assess the accessibility of the job site.
The manufacturing environment is usually noisy and may be hot, cold, and/or wet.
Safety shoes, safety vests, and safety glasses, as well as ear protection, are required when on-site at client manufacturing or construction locations.
Hair nets and beard nets are also provided and required when on-site at client manufacturing locations.
