The Role
We’re adding a Staff Backend Engineer to our team to build and scale our FinTech Core.
You'll work closely with business operations and the product engineering team to deliver a money-mover backend that just works.
The work will include automating ledger reconciliation systems, managing payment processor integrations, and implementing our in-house banking core.
This is a high-growth opportunity with the possibility of evolving Principal Engineer and engineering management responsibilities in the future.
As a staff engineer, you'll have the opportunity to design, develop, and operate our most mission-critical systems at scale.

The Tech Stack
Our tech stack is GCP, Go, protobufs, and MySQL.
We have native mobile apps, an event-driven architecture on the backend, and data infrastructure for streaming analytics and ML.
Despite a complex domain and data model, most new hires get productive on our stack within a couple of days.
What you’ll do:
Design, develop and operate core ledger systems
Build and maintain integrations with payment processors
Operate and scale our internal treasury management APIs
Debug, quantify and minimize exceptions
Set up sustainable best practices for DevOps and FinOps, including monitoring and analytics
Collaborate with and mentor fellow engineers
Champion new practices to improve customer experience and enable exponential growth
Lead and own projects end to end
What we're looking for:
5+ years of experience building and deploying software at scale
5+ years of experience in FinTech, payments or related financial systems
Experience with our tech stack (or willingness to learn quickly/independently)
A data-driven approach, fluency in SQL as well as Go
Have deep experience with modern cloud technologies
Motivated, entrepreneurially minded individuals who thrive in an environment with minimal structure, high ownership, and technically challenging problems
Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into pragmatic technical plans
An efficient approach to software development that drives accuracy and user experience
