Here have a 502ci Big Block Chevy that was brought to the shop for an upgrade.
The customer wanted more power than what the engine made as a crate engine from GM.
This started out as a HT502, which would have made 377hp and 512tq.
I installed SRP pistons with a larger dome to achieve 9.
75-1 compression, a better/bigger set of aluminum heads with a 320cc intake port, as well as a more aggressive hydraulic roller cam and lifters.
Toping off the engine is a single plane 4150 Air Gap style intake and one of my custom Holley 950 carbs.
With all these upgrades, the engine responded to a tune of 643hp at 5700rpm, and 618tq and 4700rpm!! That is a monstrous 266hp gain!! Plus it averaged over 600ftlbs of torque from 3500rpm to 5500rpm!! AWESOME!! Talk about a torque curve flat as Texas!
This engine was built for a customer, but I just wanted to share what is achievable for a GM crate 502, that runs on 91 octane pump gas, and can drive to New York and back.
If your wanting to do an upgrade to your engine, give me a call and we can discuss your options.
